One of the most common questions I get asked by my clients is, “My followers are liking my content, but they’re not purchasing from me. How can I convert them?”
And truthfully, this is one of the hardest things business owners face. They’re being authentic on social media, posting consistently, and sharing great content that gets good engagement – but those followers are not taking further action.
There’s one important thing to keep in mind, though: You shouldn’t be expecting to get clients ONLY from social media. Because if you do, that’s the quickest way to set yourself up for failure. You should be looking to utilize MULTIPLE outlets of the marketing pie in order to get the best results.
In the meantime, here is what you can focus on specifically regarding social media…
1️⃣ Hit your audience’s pain points
You know by now that I’m constantly stressing the fact that people do business with people that they know, like, and trust – and one of the quickest ways to get people to trust you is to show that you understand EXACTLY how they feel.
So, since you KNOW how they feel and you are able to provide a solution for it, touch upon that in your content. One of my good friends, Liz, calls these the “ITGYs” – “I Totally Get You” statements. Say exactly what your followers are thinking and show what you will do to help them. When you let your audience know that YOU can provide the solution to their problems, they’ll be much more likely to want to hire you.
2️⃣ Show the results that you’ve achieved with clients before
People are protective of their money and don’t want to invest in something if they don’t believe it will truly benefit them – totally understandable. What you can do is show your audience exactly what you’re capable of helping them achieve. This can consist of sharing awesome testimonials from clients, creating case studies, listing out client achievements, and more.
By seeing that you’re able to help clients reach amazing breakthroughs, your followers will start to trust you more and will open up to the idea of working with you to help them do the same. And there comes the money!
3️⃣ Provide free and actionable advice
I’m going to be honest – you’re never going to get anywhere if all you’re trying to do is sell to your audience. Plus, as mentioned above, how do your followers know that you TRULY know your stuff? In an online world, there are unfortunately some people who have “scammed” others, which has therefore made it difficult for the entrepreneurs who truly provide valuable results.
The best way to build your credibility is by sharing free and actionable advice. Give some insight into your zone of genius! Show a little bit of the incredible knowledge you have because people always appreciate free advice – and they will keep that in mind when it comes time to hire someone.
Are you converting your followers to paying clients? If not, what is one thing you can change to make that happen?
