One thing I didn’t do right away when starting my business, which I definitely regret doing, is starting an email list. Email lists are a great way to get in touch with your audience; ideally, you should create one right when you start your blog or business so you can start capturing people’s interests. Originally, I didn’t think I would need one right away, so I kept putting it off. However, finally making an email list through Mailerlite was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! If you’re also unconvinced as to why you should start an email list, here’s why you should.
You can build an audience while your website is being created.
If you’re launching a new website but don’t have it ready yet, leave a form asking people to sign up to receive updates when the website will be ready. This shows that people have an interest in your website, but they often forget to check back – you can send out a quick email when it’s all ready, and then they’ll know to take a look at your awesome new site! Mailerlite has the perfect option to make a static page where you can cover your homepage and just leave a signup form.
You can create a valuable relationship with your audience.
I talk to my subscribers as if they’re a friend. During the social media, blogging, and texting age, email marketing is just another way to build a relationship with your audience. I often find good engagement in my emails because I’ll let people know to reply to any emails if they have any questions, which further builds a relationship.
You can offer a free item.
My subscribers on my Mailerlite email list literally went from 0 to 600+ overnight just because I had created a FREE social media content calendar for the first quarter of 2017 that I wanted to share with people. It was insane! People obviously love getting valuable things for free, so why not benefit yourself by capturing their emails and growing your list in the process? If you create a webform using Mailerlite, you can easily set up an automation where people will automatically get an item when they sign up for your list – which is also known as an opt-in.
You can send information from your site that your audience may have missed.
Unfortunately, just because people love your site doesn’t mean that they will remember to check it every single day. Consider sending a newsletter – whether it’s daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly – containing important information that you want your readers to be aware of. People are often checking their email, so it’s almost guaranteed that your email will be seen. I use Mailerlite to create weekly newsletters containing a round-up of my blog posts for that week, and it really seems to help.
You can easily promote your products or services.
Email marketing is a quick + easy way to promote your biz, but it’s not the most important benefit of newsletters. Remember that people do business with people that they know, like, and trust – so before you try promoting yourself, build a relationship with your audience.
